Through the clouds

Good Morning,

It is great to see what God is doing with Propelling the Gospel, and the community surrounding the mission recently. There have been tests and trials for sure, but He continues to provide. It’s a testament to what steadfast faith, perseverance and patience on the Lord brings.

My name is Mike Black, and I’m thankful to be a part of PTG. I moved to Maine from Florida last November; Normally if you want to learn how to fly, you might be better off moving to the Sunshine State and its 320+ days a year of flying weather, not away from it. But the move wasn’t primarily about flying, it was about trusting God through the clouds along the way.

In my seven months here, I have encountered a fair share of tests and trials as well, both personally and professionally, but 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 puts things in perspective:

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

We are called to spread the love of Christ: the Message that He lived and died so that we might have an everlasting life. This incredible mercy is such an important thing to understand. There are times that we fall short, or things appear to be falling apart, but we can fix our eyes on Him and trust in his renewing of our hearts.

Living in Southern Maine has shown me how much God is present and moving. The people that I’ve met at church, through outreach ministry, in Bible study, and at work, like Alec, have been nothing short of encouraging and a blessing during a season of change.

After a full nine months without flying, I recently got back into the cockpit of a Cessna 172 to continue what has been laid out before me. It hasn’t been without its own setbacks, and it might take longer than I had hopes for, but my excitement for what God has in store for my life and for His good hasn’t dwindled. Like Matheus, who you heard from last week, I just want to be used to glorify God.

I can’t wait to see what God has planned for Propelling the Gospel in the coming months.
